February 25, 2007, Roanoke Island Festival Par
Samputu & Ingeli. Samputu & Ingeli will perform drum, dance and songs of Rwanda at 2 and 8 p.m. Having emerged victorious from the fire of Rwandan genocide, Jean Paul Samputu has established himself as one of the more prominent African artists of the world stage. A winner of the prestigious Kora Award (the African Grammy) in 2003, Samputu travels the world as a cultural ambassador for Rwanda, bringing to his audiences not only traditional African singing, dancing and drumming, but also a message of peace and reconciliation.

March 3, 2007, Roanoke Island Festival Park
Roanoke Island 1682- A Civil War Living History Weekend. A Civil War Living History Weekend will commemorate the 145th Anniversary of The Battle of Roanoke Island at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The seventh annual festival will feature many interactive opportunities for both children and adults. Those scheduled include a recruiting station, gun drills, blacksmithing, a 19th century toy display, crafts, boat history, soap carving, capture the flag games, woodworking, music, a living history encampment with 19th century cooking, a quilting display with the local Teacup Quilters, a drawing table interpreting the use of art as a communication tool during the Civil War, lectures and more! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is included in the general ticket price.

March 17, 2007, Roanoke Island Festival Park
Patchwork- The Little House Quilts of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura Ingall Wilder’s tales of outdoor adventure and pioneer spirit have been inspiring boys and girls for over 70 years. Born in 1868, Laura traveled across America’s rolling plains, all the while creating patchwork quilts that related the same adventures that would later inspire her time-honored books. Admission is charged for the two performancesat 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Americana Music Series - Finale - Kenny and Amanda Smith Band. Winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association's prestigious Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2003, the Kenny and Amanda Smith Band combines gutsy, heartflet vocals, brilliant instrumental talents and a powerful, contemporary sense of song choice and arrangement into one of the most exciting concerts of the year.

Summer Steam. Memorabilia of Summer Baseball and exhibit of invitational art pertaining to summer fun. The reception will coincide with a Meet the Steamers Night.

June 3, Roanoke Island Festival Park
North Carolina Symphony. The North Carolina Symphony will perform on Sunday, June 3 at 8 p.m. The Dare County Tourism Board is funding this magical evening for the sixth consecutive year. The free performance will include a pre-concert beginning at 7 p.m. Handicap parking will be available at the Park. Additional parking available on a first come, first serve basis. More parking is available throughout the town of Manteo. Seating for the event will be on the open lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Picnics are welcomed

Edenton Music and Water Festival. 8th Annual Festival with East Coast Flatwater Canoe and Kayak Races starting the day off followed by a celebration of our waterways with free paddling demonstrations, leisure paddles along the creeks, games while topping the day off with local & regional musically talented entertainers.

July 2, Roanoke Island Festival Park
70 Years of Inspiration Inspired by The Lost Colony. Art work inspired by The Lost Colony July 2-27, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Art Gallery Memorabilia associated with this long-running theatrical production’s history will be featured. An opening reception will be held July 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. Special extended hours will be held on Friday, July 6th from 6-8 p.m. and also on July 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

July 4, Edenton State Historic Site

Edenton Bay Challenge. Tanzers, Windmills, Sunfish, Optimist, Flying Scots, and Lasers compete in this one-class design race annually.
